Having a seasonal business, such as a Christmas ornament company, has allowed for us to do something else we love in the off-season…go to the beach! Although, just because we are on vacation doesn’t mean that our creative minds have also completely checked out. 

One of our favorite things to do is scour the gift stores for inspiration.  Most of the time it’s the typical t-shirts, hats, and shot glasses (don’t get me wrong, those goodies are all wonderful to bring home) but occasionally we run across a gem like this, a driftwood Christmas tree! Who even thought of something so neat?!? 

Having a driftwood tree to decorate with an ornament that we get on vacation would be so great to bring out at Christmas time! New ornaments to decorate this tree would also be something else fun to search for on all of our beach excursions.  Sand dollars and starfish make super cute souvenir ornaments as well. 

There’s also the DIY ornament made from all the little treasures found on the beach. Take home a little sand and fill a glass ball ornament with all the shells and coral you collect. Use a paint pen, marker or a vinyl cutter to mark it with the beach and date.  We also embellished with twine and ribbon. Can’t wait to put this on the tree!

The Road to Graduation

     Once senior year rolls around graduation is the main event. FAQs

What is the shipping and handling time and rates?  Our processing time is normally between 1 to 3 days unless you request a specialty item. We use USPS Priority shipping which runs 2 to 3 days depending on the zip code. Our shipping and handling charge is $6.95 or free on all orders over $60. Express and International shipping are available but please contact us for the additional rates.

Special and Custom Requests? We would love to try and create an ornament specially for you! If you would like an ornament created off your idea or if you would like a sports player with a certain color uniform, a family ornament with different skin color, or an ornament for your favorite sports team, contact us for all the possibilities.  Cutoff for custom requests is November 1^st  so the earlier the better. An additional charge will apply.

Can I order a previous years ornament? Of course! All of our ornaments are hand personalized so they may be dated with the year you specify. Even if you would like our famous year ornament made of bread dough, contact us for it to be specially made.

Will I receive my ornaments before Christmas? Our cutoff for Christmas delivery is December 17^th. Express shipping is available. Contact us for additional rates.

Can I have ornaments shipped to different address? Yes! Ornaments may be shipped to multiple addresses but a separate order will need to be placed for each address as there will be separate shipping charges. On the order page there is a place for billing information and also for shipping information.

When will there be sales and specials? We randomly run sales and special promotions throughout the year. Like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all of the latest deals and news!

Can our pets be added to the ornament?
Definitely! We have a couple of options to add your fur babies to your keepsake ornament. The pet dishes pictured below that are made of resin, can be added to all of our family ornaments. Please contact us if adding more than one or two dishes to make sure that they will fit. Another option is to have your pets name added to the family ornament with a paw print next to their name on the stocking hat. There is also a section dedicated to our pets so yours may have their very own personalized ornament.

 

• There is a whole category dedicated to MU Fan ornaments, will you do other teams too?
  So far we have been able to do every team that has been requested. Contact us to discuss which ornament you would like for your favorite team!
• Can I pay with another form of payment other than PayPal.
  Yes! When prompted, continue to the secure PayPal page. There is a place on the login screen that says “pay with credit, debit, or PayPal credit.” Click there and you may pay with another form of payment.
• What is the difference between Bread Dough and Resin ornaments?
  Bread dough ornaments and resin ornaments can look similar but are very different. Our bread dough ornaments are made with love by us in the USA. They are hand molded and sometimes cut from a cookie cutter, we hand paint and then embellish.
  
  The resin ornaments are made from a mold. Many of our resin ornaments came from the original ornament we created. A resin material is poured into the mold and they are hand painted.
  
  If you pick up both ornaments and turn them over you will see the resin ornament is flat and smooth and the bread dough ornament will be detailed. For more questions on our process please ask.

Vacation Memories

By now you know it’s not a secret that I love ornaments! I love them so much that I want to keep them out all year, not just at Christmas time. A great way to do this is by incorporating them into every other area of my life, like my recent trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (yes, be jealous! It was an average of 82 degrees there every dayJ). 

I found these empty black memory trays at Hobby Lobby just the other week. I bought three because this annual trip is always taken with some of my best friends and I wanted them to have one also. Of course, all of the other supplies like the scrapbook paper, ribbon and stickers came from there, all at 50% off because no one should ever pay retail at Hobby Lobby.

My husband is an avid scuba diver so this year I was excited to start carrying scuba diver ornaments in the Ornaments for Keeps collection which I definitely wanted to use in the tray. I personalized it with his name, year and Dominican Republic, and added a picture of him in all of his gear. I chose the colors turquoise and orange because it felt tropical and will also match at my lake house.

After I had my pictures and paper placed the way I wanted, I started on the fun part, the embellishments! This is just a trial and error process that can take some time but can also make the entire project.

I brought back a star fish magnet that has Punta Cana on it I wanted to use also. I had the buttons and mini clothespins at my house but I’m sure those came from Hobby Lobby too.  Look around your house, you can find these tiny treasures everywhere! It took me a couple of days of looking at it and making small changes but I am so happy with the way it turned out!! We made such great memories and now I can be reminded of that all year!

Christmas Party Games!

Everything is in order. You've invited all the right friends and family members, you've worked tirelessly in the kitchen preparing your famous Christmas dinner and Christmas cookies, and you've wrapped all your presents within an inch of their lives. All that's left now is to sit back and enjoy spending time with your friends and family members... right?

Yes - but that might not be easy as it sounds! What if you've invited several friends who don't know each other very well? Or family members that aren't very communicative? What will you do to break the awkward silences that could occur?

Never fear! The team at Ornaments for Keeps is here to help you plan for just this type of disaster. We've compiled a list of our favorite Christmas party games to help you seamlessly smooth over any awkward moments before your guests even have a chance to realize it!

Christmas Carol Charades
Put a holiday spin on this classic party game! Play this game just like you play the classic charades game (players take turns silently acting out a secret word or phrase until someone guesses it), but with a holiday twist: you can only act out Christmas carols.

Build a Snowman
Did you know you can build snowmen indoors? Divide players into teams of 2-3 people. Give each team a roll of toilet paper, a carrot, and any other tools you think could be helpful. The teams will each turn one of their members into a snowman by wrapping them in toilet paper and decorating them as they see fit. Winners can be judged based on speed or decorative prowess.

Decorate The Christmas Tree
Can you guess where this is going? Play this game just like you play "Build a Snowman," but have the team members decorate one player as a Christmas tree instead!

Two Truths & A Lie
This is a classic ice breaker game, but you can add a Christmas spin to it! In the original version, players take turns telling two truths and one lie about themselves, and the other players have to guess which statement is the lie. Give this game some Christmas flair by having players tell two truths and one lie about the worst Christmas presents they ever received.

Candy Canes
Have you ever heard of the game "Spoons"? Play "Candy Canes" exactly the same way, but with candy canes instead of spoons. Here's a quick summary of the rules:

• Goal: Get 4 of a kind and grab a candy cane!
• Put one less candy cane than the number of people playing in the center of the table. For example: if you have 7 players, only use 6 candy canes.
• Deal 4 cards to all the players.
• Dealer places remaining deck of cards to his right.
• Dealer draws a card from the deck and decides whether or not he wants to add it to his hand. If he does, he will choose a different card from his hand and discard it by passing it to the player on his left. If he does not, he will immediately pass it to the player on his left. Players can only have 4 cards in their hand at a time.
  
• The player to the left of the dealer picks up the card the dealer just passed her and goes through the same decision and discard process.
• When cards get passed all the way around to the player to the right of the dealer, they collect in a standing discard pile (the dealer continues drawing from the main deck). 
• Once a player gets four of a kind in his hand, he grabs a candy cane. At this point, all the other players can also grab candy canes (you do not have to have four of a kind to grab a candy cane after another player has done so). 
• The player who does not get a candy cane is either out or given a letter in the word of your choice (such as C-A-N-D-Y or C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S). Once players get enough letters to spell out the whole word, they are out.
• The last remaining player wins!

Just like "Spoons", "Candy Canes" is much more fun when played very quickly. Ramp things up by requiring players to pass cards and grab candy canes at lightning speed!
